Napa Valley Health Care

Health and Wellness in Napa County

The Napa Valley is the picture of health. Home owners in Napa County clearly value a healthy environment, from the preservation of open space to limiting development that brings unclean air and environmental degradation to communities. The Napa Valley is known as a leader in the production of organic foods and the use of locally grown ingredients in the regions’ numerous restaurants.

This concern extends to health resources that enhance the quality of life for Napa Valley home owners. From traditional clinics and hospitals to alternative therapies, there are many options available and Napa residents appreciate the range of choices.

Napa Valley Healthy Choices

The Napa Valley is served by mainstream health providers such as Kaiser Permanente, Queen of the Valley Hospital, Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation and St. Helena Hospital. Queen of the Valley hospital is nationally ranked and known throughout the Bay Area for quality health care. The Foundation that supports the hospital reaches far into the Napa community with many free and reduced-cost services for disadvantaged families.

St. Helena Hospital, tucked into the wooded hills just north of St. Helena offers a community hospital that is part of the highly respected Adventist Health system. The hospital has a full range of traditional medical services – cardiac, obstetrics, surgical and diagnostic. But, these and other medical offerings are supported by the fundamental values of Adventist Health hospitals – that physical, mental and spiritual health and healing are inseparable and equally important.

Nature’s Own Medicines

This ‘holistic’ approach is echoed in the many alternative health resources available to people living in Napa Valley homes. There are preventive health care centers, alternative health care practitioners, massage therapies and many facilities offering training in yoga and other disciplines that promote health. The Napa Valley is world famous for its hot springs, mud baths, spas and resources for people to pamper themselves while paying attention to both physical and spiritual health.

Of course, mainstream medical providers are abundantly available throughout the Napa Valley with doctors, dentists and medical specialists and technicians providing support and services. Napa County also dedicates many resources to people in need. There are numerous organizations that do outreach to seniors and provide services, such as help with Medicare decisions and access to medical specialists.

A Special Place for California Veterans

Napa Valley is also home to more than 1,000 California veterans. The Veterans Home in Yountville is the largest of its kind in the nation. There, men and women who have served their country receive medical care, rehabilitation, recreational services and activities to support independent living within a community that shares a common experience. There is also an extensive assisted living and skilled nursing facility at the Veterans Home n Yountville that is tucked away on a green hillside skirting the town.

Resources for healthcare are abundant throughout the Napa Valley and home owners may choose from many options. It is also comforting to know that Napa is conveniently near the Bay Area where medical specialists and an even wider array of health treatments are readily available.
